It will take a community effort to clean up the Virgin Islands, speakers at the BVI Tourist Board’s Keep it Clean Campaign launch said on Tuesday.

Advertisements for the VI portray a clean destination, and the reality should reflect the same, said BVITB Chairman Russell Harrigan.

“It is what we sell and it is what we depend on in many ways,” Mr. Harrigan said, adding, “It is a community thing.”

Mr. Harrigan, who is also the majority owner of this newspaper, also called for agencies such as the Conservation and Fisheries Department and the Department of Waste Management to work together in the campaign.

The launch was chaired by at-large representative Archie Christian, who said the campaign is not just about tourism.
