Wakima Lettsome, 30, appeared in Magistrates’ Court Monday, charged with the attempted murder of Jonathan Colaire, who was allegedly shot once in the abdomen while in the Crabbe Lot area on Nov. 18.

Mr. Lettsome’s lawyer, Marie-Lou Creque, called the allegations “spurious.”

Still, Magistrate Tamia Richards denied bail for Mr. Lettsome, who also faces a charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm in connection with the shooting.

Mr. Lettsome is to return to court Jan. 11. He was not asked to plead to the indictable charges.
