Career changes
• Conor Looney, a former marketing director at Digicel’s Jamaica affiliate, has been named CEO of the company’s Virgin Islands branch. Mr. Looney has more than 15 years of experience in sales and marketing across Europe for companies such as Coca-Cola and Mars Incorporated, according to Digicel.
Donations
• The United States-based non-profit group Visions International sent a team of teens to the VI to paint the fence at the Adina Donovan Home for the Elderly as part of their cultural exchange programme, according to Government Information Services.
• Sensus Gym has made 40 vouchers available to women who wish to receive a free mammogram screening in order to detect breast cancer. For more information, call the BVI Health Services Authority at 852-7627.
• The BVIHSA also received a donation of 45 thermal blankets from the territory’s Guyanese Association, according to the authority.
• In the past month, the New Hospital Pledge Programme has received a total of $107,600 in donations from community organisations, companies, families and individuals, according to the BVI Health Services Authority. The Rotary Club of Tortola donated $50,000 for the neonatal intensive care unit. Mossack Fonseca & Co donated $25,000 to assist in purchasing equipment. The Skelton Group of Companies donated $20,000 to the new hospital in honour of Ellis and Ellen Skelton. The 16 children and the grandchildren of William and Beryl Turnbull donated $5,500 in the Turnbulls’ memory. A donation of $5,000 came from Health and Social Development Minister Ronnie Skelton and his wife Janice. Maurita Kupoluyi donated $2,200 in memory of her husband Christopher Kupolyi, and Phyllis George donated $100, according to the BVIHSA.
