The Office of the Complaints Commissioner appears to be catching on among members of the public.

In its annual report, tabled at the House of Assembly this month, the office reported an increase in its workload since it was established in 2009.

The report includes statistics on the commission’s activities for 2010 and comments from Complaints Commissioner Elton Georges on the general state of public service delivery.

Last year was the office’s first full year of activity, as the commission opened in March 2009. All told, 72 enquiries were logged and 14 investigations were completed in 2010, compared to 49 and five, respectively, in 2009, according to the office.

Three special reports also were completed, as was one “own motion systemic investigation.”
