Milford Todman Jr., 20, appeared in Magistrates’ Court Monday, charged with two commercial burglaries committed in August.

On Aug. 10, employees at the Pirates Bight restaurant’s office in Palestina found evidence that a burglar had entered through a window and gone through drawers and documents in an office, Crown Counsel Jude Hanley told the court. Fingerprints found in the office allegedly matched the defendant’s, she said.

In a police interview, Mr. Todman allegedly confessed to breaking in to the office, the prosecutor said. He told police he found cash in the office but didn’t take it “because his conscience bothered him,” she said.

On Aug. 11, Mr. Todman allegedly broke in to Bobby’s Supermarket on Nanny Cay, also entering through a window, Ms. Hanley said.  He allegedly stole $150 from the cash register in a burglary that was caught on camera, according to the prosecutor.

“I already see that picture: It is me,” he allegedly told police when shown a clip from the surveillance footage.
