The owners of two Virgin Islands construction firms signed contracts with the government Thursday to construct two retaining walls and rehabilitate the pavement at Nottingham Estate.

G-Unit Constructions and Junior Mathias Construction will work together to undertake the $669,000 project, which will be funded by the territory’s $15.6 million loan from the Caribbean Development Bank.

The first retaining structure incorporates mass concrete underpinning, along with reinforced concrete and counterfort reinforced concrete at approximately 37 metres long, and ranging from three to six metres high.

The second retaining structure is a reinforced concrete counterfort wall approximately 40 metres long and four to six metres high.

Work on the project will commence immediately, G-Unit owner Gregory Hodge said after signing his contract.
