Government recently inked two contracts for the design of a park and the enhancement of the existing outdoor basketball court on Virgin Gorda.

Education and Culture Minister Myron Walwyn on April 24 signed a $68,500 petty contract with Dion Stoutt of STO Enterprise for the design, engineering and development of a “recreation park” on the island, according to Government Information Services.

The works are to include a gazebo, playground equipment, landscape, parking, fencing, a restroom facility, lighting and picnic and party facilities, a GIS press release said.

Another contract, for $62,500, was signed for architectural design, surveying and engineering services for covering the VG basketball court. These works are also to include the addition of seating capacity and upgrades to the restroom facility and concession stand, according to GIS.

Both projects started April 25 and are expected to be complete by June 25, the press release said.
