Police seized two illegal firearms in recent days, according to Police Information Officer Diane Drayton.

A semi-automatic pistol was uncovered on the beach in Cane Garden Bay last week, and a high velocity rifle and ammunition were discovered during a joint operation with Customs officers onboard a vessel docked at Port Purcell over the weekend, stated Ms. Drayton, who did not disclose what days the discoveries were made.

Detectives from the Scenes of Crime Unit are completing initial checks on the guns before submitting “the ballistics” on both weapons for further forensic examination overseas, according to Ms. Drayton

No one has been charged in relation to either firearm, but police investigations are ongoing, she stated Tuesday.
