On Sunday, the Creoles and Team BVI advanced to the finals of the Gillette nine-a-side Nations Cup tournament after winning their respective semi-finals match at the Greenland Grounds in East End.

 

In the first match, the top team, Europe, was beat by the Creoles, 3-2.

Denron Daniel, of the Creoles, led the way with two goals. He had several other scoring opportunities, but Team Europe goal keeper Andre ‘DJ Dre’ Gaymes played tough defence.

Thomas Albert scored the Creoles’ third goal, while Jacques Roul scored late for Europe.

Mr. Daniel was named the Digicel Player of the Match.

In the second semi-finals match, St.Vincent failed to hold on to a 1-0 lead, which stood for most of the game.

Nano Ottley scored early for St. Vincent, but missed on several other scoring opportunities.

Team BVI coach Avandall Williams directed the attack from the sideline as his team tied the match with five minutes left in the game.

In the penalty shootout, Team BVI converted its first three penalty shots, while St.Vincent only managed to score two, giving Team BVI a 3-2 win.

Trevor Peters was named the Digicel Player of the Match.

The BVI will face the Creoles in the finals on Sunday, while St.Vincent will play Europe for the third-place spot.
