Sports, games and a ball are among the activities planned in celebration of Customs Week, which kicked off on Saturday with a service at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Road Town.

This year the 14th annual event is themed, “Borders Divide, Customs Connects through Compliance.”

“We have affirmed our commitment once more to compliance with international standards in relation to border protection and trade facilitation,” Customs Commissioner Wade Smith told the Department of Information and Public Relations. “The theme also speaks to dedication to uniformity in our performance.”

The commissioner is inviting the public to participate in the week’s activities.

After the Saturday service, the department hosted a Sunday luncheon at Treasure Isle Hotel and Restaurant. Tuesday through Thursday, officers are participating in various evening games, including dominoes, basketball and bowling, according to Government Information Services.

On Saturday, a social will be held at Quito’s Gazebo Restaurant and Bar in Cane Garden Bay.

The 10th Annual Customs Ball is scheduled for Feb. 25 at Callaloo Prospect Reef. Entertainment is to include The Razor Blades, DJ Bertrum and Cool Session Brass.
