The court room was filled with detectives, reporters and family members at the close of a criminal trial accusing Yan Edwards and Allen Baptiste of acting together to murder Keri Harrigan, who was shot and killed on March 16, 2011 in Long Look.

After more than two hours of deliberation, the nine-member jury filed into the room, and it soon delivered its unanimous verdict: Both men were found guilty.

“We say the writing is on the wall in this case,” Senior Crown Counsel Valston Graham said in his closing address Tuesday. “The evidence is clear.”

Last week, the court heard the testimony of Vaughn Cameron, a key witness in the Crown’s case, who said he was present when the two defendants, sitting in a small office in the East End Fire Station, spoke of plans to “deal with” Keri Harrigan on March 15, 2011, a day before he was shot twice in the back of the head.

“And what did you understand he meant by ‘deal with him,’” Mr. Graham asked the witness.

“That he was going to kill him,” Mr. Cameron replied.
