Police Information Officer Diane Drayton said police did not receive any reports about explosions on Monday evening, but some residents said they heard loud noises at about 10 p.m.
Brynley Rathbun, of Shannon, was among them.
“I was at home getting ready for bed and heard a series of what sounded like gunshots,” she said.
A Sea Cows Bay resident who asked not to be identified also said he heard loud noises while he was at his home.
“It wasn’t consecutive like gunshots, so I thought it was fireworks, but I didn’t see any lights in the sky,” he said.
