United Kingdom national Emma Bailey, a former policy officer for the Governor’s Office, pleaded guilty Friday to six charges in relation to a two-car collision in Pockwood Pond in July.

This reporter was shut out of the hearing, but he confirmed afterwards that Ms. Bailey, of Palestina Estate, pleaded guilty to reckless driving, being drunk when in charge of a motor vehicle, disorderly conduct in a police station, failing to provide a specimen of blood or urine, indecent language, and disorderly conduct.

The offence of failing to provide a blood or urine specimen carries a mandatory 12-month driver’s licence suspension, but it wasn’t made clear whether there will be any additional fines or punishments on top of that.

Shortly after the incident, Police Information Officer Diane Drayton released a brief announcement that Ms. Bailey had been involved in a two-car crash and that four people were sent to the hospital.

However, police refused to release any information on the charges against the defendant.

“As the matter is now sub judice, no other information will be released until the hearing,” Ms. Drayton said at the time.

Details about the injuries sustained by the parties involved were not released.

At the hearing on Friday, however, it was said that Ms. Bailey received injuries to her neck and head. This reporter also saw two people leave the court after the hearing: One was wearing a neck brace, and the other was using crutches.
