Police are investigating the circumstances that led to a Fort Hill man seeking medical treatment at Peebles Hospital for a gunshot wound to the hand, police said.

It is alleged that around 8 a.m. Tuesday, the man was walking from his home to Free Bottom when he heard two loud explosions and then realised that he had been struck in the hand, according to a press release form Police Information Office.

“He stated that he saw no one in the area at the time,” the release states.
