Kim Hollis

More than two months after government announced that Director of Public Prosecutions Kim Hollis would leave the public service in December, a replacement still has not been chosen, and officials are mum on when Ms. Hollis will depart the territory.

If no one is chosen to replace Ms. Hollis by the time she vacates her post, someone from government would have to temporarily assume the role of DPP, said Kaisa Penn, human resources manager in the Governor’s Group.

Ms. Penn could not say who this would be.

“It’s likely that if recruitment is not finalised by the time that Ms. Hollis leaves, that they would have to have someone act,” Ms. Penn said.

Though recruitment is ongoing, Ms. Penn said she did not know how many applicants government is reviewing, or whether any applicants stand out as particularly strong candidates.

Government first informed the public about Ms. Hollis’ resignation in an Oct. 9 statement from Deputy Governor David Archer Jr., which stated that Ms. Hollis chose to resign so that she could care for an ailing family member.

In his statement, Mr. Archer also said that Ms. Hollis is committed to helping her successor become acquainted with the job.

“Ms. Hollis’ wealth of experience will be missed,” Mr. Archer said. “As a territory, we’ve benefited not just from Ms. Hollis’ experience in the court room, but also from her leadership, as she has shared much with her team of prosecutors, the entities she advises within the government, and with the greater legal fraternity within the territory.”

Messages left for Ms. Hollis were not returned, and attempts to obtain more information were unsuccessful.
