Creating H. Lavity Stoutt Community College took many people, but few were so instrumental in the school’s development as Eileene Parsons, officials said at the ceremony to name the college auditorium in her honour.

Ms. Parsons has exemplified service to her community throughout her life, said Dr. Joseph Archibald at the ceremony last Thursday evening.

“Eileene Parsons harmonised all her training, talents, skills, experience and native intelligence at bedrock level,” to advance the college from a not-too-popular concept to a growing and successful institution that it is today, Dr. Archibald told the crowd.

Ms. Parsons herself said the honour of having the auditorium named after her was “precious,” and used her time at the podium to ask college officials to start a theatre arts group of students and community members.
