“I feel proud. This is very significant for the college,” said HLSCC President Dr. Karl Dawson.

He added that accreditation will mean a smoother process for transfer of credits, which, in turn, will open up more opportunities for HLSCC to partner with other colleges and four-year institutions.

The accreditation also brings a measure of validation to the 25-year-old institution, Dr. Dawson added.

“This sends a message to the community that we’ve been meeting an international standard,” he said.

Going forward, the college will work to ensure that it continues to meet the accreditation standards, the president added.

According to Dr. Dawson the accreditation process was lengthy, and many people contributed to its success.

“As president of the college, I’m very thankful for the efforts of the many people who have contributed,” he said.
