Two hundred and four students graduated from H. Lavity Stoutt Community College during a ceremony on Thursday — a class HLSCC President Dr. Karl Dawson described as the “lucky ’13.”

“In recent years while you were enrolled, we saw more students than ever — many of you sitting here — striving for and achieving academic honours,” Dr. Dawson said. “I say you made your own luck because you created many opportunities for your own growth and development by forming clubs at an unprecedented rate.”

The school recorded its highest number of graduating men, he added: Of the186 students who earned associate’s degrees, 56 were males.

Forty-one percent of the graduating class were honour students and 16 finished with multiple degrees. The Virgin Gorda campus also made history this year, producing a record 33 graduates, college officials said.
