After five days at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College, Kamal Harris had already made new friends, and he said he is ready for any challenges that college life has to offer.

Mr. Harris was among scores of students scattered around the HLSCC campus on Tuesday. Classes resumed on Aug. 17.

The school has registered 933 students for the fall semester, down from about 970 last year, according to HLSCC President Dr. Karl Dawson. Of those, 240 are new students, who tend to sign up in the fall, Dr. Dawson said.

Meanwhile, the Virgin Gorda campus registered 33 of the 39 students who graduated from the Bregado Flax Educational Centre, according to the HLSCC president.
