A power outage plagued most of the territory for about two days in the wake of Tropical Storm Irene. Not even Premier Ralph O’Neal was spared the trouble.

“Today was the first day that I had to use a flashlight to eat my lunch,” Mr. O’Neal told listeners of his party’s Let’s Talk radio programme Monday evening.

By Tuesday evening, power had been restored to 98 percent of the territory, said BVI Electricity Corporation General Manager Leroy Abraham in a statement to the public.
