Representatives from the BVI International Finance Centre travelled to the United States last month to promote the territory as a domicile for hedge funds.

IFC Director Sherri Ortiz said the IFC partnered with the BVI Investment Funds Association for meetings in New York and Boston, where they met with industry leaders, according to Government Information Services.

The meetings came shortly before the VI was officially recognised by the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development for its readiness to move to the next phase in a peer review programme.

“This is the latest signal that international regulators and other organisations recognise and support the steps being taken by the BVI to meet global standards,” Ms. Ortiz said.
