As part of ongoing rehabilitation efforts, Her Majesty’s Prison has implemented an Anger Management Programme for inmates.

More than 25 prisoners have registered for the nine-week course, which started April 8, according to Government Information Services.

The initiative is designed to complement the existing Houses of Healing Programme, which promotes self-esteem and encourages responsibility and accountability, a GIS press release stated.

“The Anger Management and Houses of Healing courses are areas the prison recognises as the foundation for launching a successful rehabilitation programme for the inmates at Her Majesty’s Prison,” Acting HMP Superintendent Charles Forbes said. “The Houses of Healing is a reoccurring programme that has graduated more than 40 inmates over the past three years.”

As part of the new Anger Management Programme, inmates will view and discuss the movie Anger: The Myth of Power and will “design an Anti-Anger Art Poster or write an Anti-Anger poem as a closing exercise,” the press release stated.
