“Me nah cry over no man,” Vanessa Dickens exclaimed shortly after learning that her husband had impregnated the family’s new helper.

It was a scene from Confession, a play performed this weekend at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College’s Eileene Parsons Auditorium.

Put on by the Association of Jamaican Residents, BVI, the play chronicled the troubles that transpired after the arrival of Precious, the Dickens family’s new helper.

“It was fantastic, and we had overwhelming response from the crowd,” said Peirce Parnell, who wrote, directed and starred in the play. Mr. Parnell added that this was the first play he has written and produced.

More than 400 people attended a Saturday showing, according to Mr. Parnell, but the two Sunday showings drew fewer people.
