Mohab Kayed, a full-time student at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College, wants to be a corporate lawyer one day. But for now, Mr. Kayed is hoping to get a part-time job where he can gain experience that will give him a competitive edge in the future.

On Thursday, the student wore a dress shirt and tie, armed himself with his resume, and met with many of the more than 20 employers at a government-hosted job fair held at the Multi-purpose Sports Complex.

Mr. Kayed was among 490 young people who had signed up on the Youth Unemployment Register launched by the Ministry of Education and Culture in December.

Many of them took part in training and workshops held in recent weeks, and about 200 attended the Thursday fair.

There were 68 apprenticeship opportunities and 200 job opening up for grabs, Education and Culture Minister Myron Walwyn said during an opening ceremony.
