Students from the Jost Van Dyke School were the most recent participants in a tourism education series hosted by the BVI Tourist Board.

Topics discussed at the Jan. 25 presentation included the history of tourism and its impact on the population, according to a BVITB press release.

“The future of tourism in the BVI is dependent on the success of our youth to learn the skills and knowledge needed to sustain tourism, one of our key pillars,” the press release said. “For this reason, it is important to provide students with the tools required to secure growth within this sector.”

The presentations are available to all primary and secondary schools in the territory, according to the BVITB. To participate, schools are asked to submit a request to the board for one of several topics offered: Tourism in the BVI, Sustainable Tourism, Careers in Tourism, Marketing BVI Tourism, or the BVI Tourist Board and Film Commission.
