As part of its recent efforts to help support unemployed youths, government will hold a job and career fair Thursday at the Multi-purpose Sports Complex.

Education and Culture Minister Myron Walwyn is asking businesses to support the event, according to Government Information Services.

As a lead-up to the Job and Career Fair, the ministry held a two-week Job Readiness Forum that targeted the 490 people between the ages of 16 and 30 who signed up on the Youth Unemployment Register.

Attendees were trained in communication skills, customer service, team building, personality profiling and interviewing, according to GIS.

Several businesses have already offered jobs to the registrants, Mr. Walwyn said.

“We now need the support of a larger cross section of our businesses community to join this effort,” Mr. Walwyn said.

To register for the fair, businesses should contact the Ministry of Education and Culture at 468-3701, extension 3355, or e-mail the minister directly at mwalwyn@gov.vg.
