Salehe Todman was acquitted in High Court Friday of all charges facing him in connection with an alleged attack and rape of his former lover on Dec. 22.

The jury unanimously found Mr. Todman not guilty of rape. They also found him not guilty of attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle by a 7-to-2 margin, and not guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm by an 8-to-1 vote.

The woman had alleged that Mr. Todman had come to her apartment, forced her into his vehicle and repeatedly threatened and assaulted her, only letting her go after the two had sex without her consent.

But Mr. Todman’s attorney, Patrick Thompson, questioned her story, asking why she didn’t take advantage of what he said were multiple opportunities throughout the night to escape, such as when Mr. Todman was allegedly attending to his children, who she alleged were present for much of the evening.
