Between the continuing global recession and a push throughout

Europe to raise tax revenues, 2012 will be a challenging year for the BVI London Office, but it will also be a year of unprecedented opportunities, said Director Kedrick Malone at a press briefing Tuesday morning.

The office is celebrating its 10th year of “raising the profile” of the territory in London, Mr. Malone said, explaining that the office has provided input to UK leaders on the financial services industry, the environment, and other areas where the territory has an interest.

He also described several of the office’s recent and upcoming programmes, including an initiative to expand Virgin Islands artists’ exposure in the UK.

The BVI House in London already hosts an annual art and culture show featuring VI artists, but this year the programme will bring on a London-based art curator.

The London side of the new programme involves Ziggi Golding, a West Indian heritage expert with experience in the London art market, which she’ll share with VI artists, Mr. Malone said.
