David Springette, of Belle Vue, appeared in Magistrates’ Court Wednesday, charged in connection with a Sept. 28 burglary at a Nottingham Estate home, where prosecutors said more than $10,000 in jewellery, phones and cash were stolen.

Mr. Springette’s fingerprints were found in the home, Crown Counsel Leslie-Ann Faulkner told the court, and when he was confronted by police, he led officers to six people he said purchased some of the goods. The majority of the stolen items have been recovered, she said.

“I feel really bad,” he told police, according to the prosecutor.

Magistrate Tamia Richards remanded Mr. Springette to Her Majesty’s Prison until Monday, when his lawyer Patrick Thompson is to appear in court on another matter. Mr. Springette likely will be given the option to plead to the burglary charge, which can either be handled by indictment in the High Court or in summary proceedings in the Magistrates’ Court.
