A Pleasant Valley man charged with three counts of incest and three counts of indecent assault for molesting his daughter pleaded guilty Tuesday at the High Court.

Each charge of incest carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, and each charge of indecent assault carries a maximum of seven years, according to his defence attorney, Patrick Thompson.

The man, a native of Jamaica whose name is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim, was arrested in September 2013 for allegedly forcing his daughter to have sex with him and threatening to kill her if she told anyone.

Most of the incidents occurred while the mother was at work, according to prosecutors.

The alleged incidents started in 2009, Senior Crown Counsel Leslie-Ann Faulkner said at the time of the initial hearing.

Ms. Faulkner said the situation worsened over time. In 2009 he was touching her inappropriately, and in 2010 “he no longer just touched her on her breasts,” said the prosecutor.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
