Police announced that they’re investigating a reported robbery near the Stickett in Long Look, which resulted in the injury of one man.

According to Police Information Officer Diane Drayton, the victim was in the area of the Stickett when two masked men approached him. The men allegedly hit him with the butt of a gun and robbed a small amount of cash from him.

He was taken to Peebles Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained to his forehead, Ms. Drayton said.

The information officer said that investigations are ongoing. She added that the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force has allocated a team of detectives specifically to investigate recent robberies on Tortola.

Two masked men have been described as the perpetrators of a number of robberies and burglaries over the last two months, including an aggravated burglary of a yacht at Hodges Creek Marina early on May 27, and a home robbery at Hannahs Estate on May 4.

In both of those incidents, one man was described as around 6 feet and slim, and the other around 5 feet 8 inches and stocky.

There was also an armed robbery of the Long Bush Superette on May 5 – in which a video was released that shows two masked men committing the crime – and another at Le Grand Café in Road Town on April 19, when two masked men allegedly robbed at gunpoint the juvenile son of the restaurant’s owner.

No physical description of the perpetrators was provided in the most recent robbery.

Ms. Drayton said people with information related to the incident can call the detectives directly at 468-5682, the Intelligence Unit at 468-9339, or the anonymous Crime Stoppers hotline in Miami at 800-8477.
