Officers of the Criminal Investigations Department have one man in custody for questioning in relation to a robbery near Fort Hill, which left one man with a gunshot wound to his leg, according to a Royal Virgin Islands Police Force press release.

The victim said that he was at Maria’s Restaurant at Fort Hill around 7:15 p.m. on Sunday when he was approached by two armed masked men who demanded he hand over his gold chain and pendant valued at $4,000. The victim resisted and was shot by one of the men in the thigh. The masked men then fled the scene with the jewelry, according to the RVIPF press release.

The victim remains hospitalised, but in stable condition.

According to police, one assailant is described as approximately 5’11,” while the other is about 5’5.” Both were dressed in dark clothing.

Police continue to investigate the matter, but urge any one with information about the incident to contact the RVIPF non-emergency three-digit access number 311.
