A recent East End collision between a vehicle and a motor scooter left the scooter driver seriously injured, police said.

Police Information Officer Diane Drayton said yesterday that a young man remains hospitalised after the Oct. 30 incident.

The accident occurred in the pre-dawn darkness at about 4:50 a.m., she said.

Police are still investigating the cause of the accident, and no one had been charged, she added.

The vehicle received damages to its fender, hood and bumper, and the scooter was “extensively damaged,” she said.

Ms. Drayton added that police believe the helmet the young man was wearing prevented him from receiving more serious injuries and may have saved his life.
