Trust companies, law firms and various government departments and statutory bodies attended Friday’s daylong National Scholars Forum Job Fair at the Multi-purpose Sports Complex.

Aimed at recipients of government scholarships and graduates of the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College, the event was jointly hosted by the Department of Human Resources, the Ministry of Education and Culture, and the Department of Labour.

“It was good to have all the departments here together, even though a lot of them aren’t hiring,” said Chevon Turnbull, a recent HLSCC grad.

Ms. Turnbull said she distributed nearly all of the 25 copies of her resume that she brought with her. She added that she hopes to put her studies in business administration to use in an entry-level position such as being an administrative assistant.

“I’ll continue my schooling, but I’m seeing where a lot of programmes want to see the real-world experience,” she said, adding that she’s optimistic that she’ll find a position after the August holidays.
