Work on most of the territory’s planned Caribbean Development Bank projects was put on hold until government hires an engineering consultant, an official said during Standing Finance Committee deliberations in November.

Loan terms require the consultant “to complete designs and also serve as project management to the project,” Dr. Drexel Glasgow, the chief of infrastructural planning, research and development, told the SFC, according to a report on its deliberations.

At the time of the November SFC meeting, the ministry had “shortlisted” four engineering firms as potential candidates for the consultancy, and planned to invite the candidates to submit bids the following week, Dr. Glasgow said then.

The shortlisted candidates were offered the option of completing the plans started by the Public Works Department or drafting new plans for the same work, he added.

Attempts to reach Mr. Glasgow this week were unsuccessful.
