Gus Jaspert

Gus Jaspert has been appointed to succeed Governor John Duncan in August, the United Kingdom Foreign and Commonwealth Office announced Wednesday.

Mr. Jaspert, a married father of two, is currently the director of security and intelligence for the UK’s National Security Secretariat.

Before that, he was a member of the Royal College of Defence Studies, earning a master of arts in international relations and security strategy from King’s College London.

Other postings include private secretary to the prime minister from 2012-2014; head of drugs and alcohol and head of policing for the Home Office from 2009-2012; delivery manager in the Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit in Her Majesty’s Treasury from 2007-2009; and lead manager of the Children’s Services Newsdesk for the Surrey County Council from 2001-2007.

In 2001, he earned a master of arts in German and history from the University of Edinburgh, and in 2003, he earned a postgraduate diploma in management studies, business administration and management from Kingston University.

Mr. Duncan took up the position in August 2014.
