Education and Culture Minister Myron Walwyn is asking unemployed youths to register at the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports.

The initiative, which is to result in a “Youth Unemployment Register,” is designed to help the minister make “evidence-based policy choices,” according to Government Information Services.

“Short-term benefits of the registry will be to immediately match unemployed youth with jobs through the Labour Department, and long-term benefits include a revision of the education policy to make students more marketable and increase their likelihood for employment,” Mr. Walwyn told the Department of Information and Public Relations.

Anyone between the ages of 18 and 30 who is seeking employment is asked to provide pertinent information, such as education and skill level, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays at DYAS through Dec. 12.
