BVI Health Services Authority officials are asking residents to contribute to the newly established Friends of the BVIHSA.

Recent pledges are earmarked for outfitting the new hospital, but also offer an opportunity for “everyone to be connected” to the facility, said BVIHSA CEO Darlene Carty-Baptiste.

At a ceremony to launch the pledge programme Thursday morning, hospital officials and Health and Social Development Minister Ronnie Skelton accepted cheques from the Social Security Board, the Rotary Club of Tortola, and the National Bank of the Virgin Islands.

The donations were pledged when the hospital was handed over to government in October. At the ceremony Thursday, SSB Chairman Paul Webster, QC, said that the board, which donated $1.5 million, is invested in keeping the VI population as healthy as possible.

Mr. Skelton said that even small donations will help the cause, and will be appreciated.
