H. Lavity Stoutt Community College students will be sharing their campus with uniformed police officers for the first time next week as the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force begins a new training effort.

About 16 officers will attend courses for the next seven months at HLSCC as part of what Deputy Police Commissioner David Morris called an “ambitious” programme of training and development for constables and sergeants.

“This is about improving our investigative skills as a force. It’s about becoming more victim and witness focused,” Mr. Morris said of the training programme’s aims.

The $70,000 programme cost will be spread over two budget years, Mr. Morris said, calling the price an “investment” in the officers of the force.
