Detectives from the police Special Investigations Unit are investigating a shooting in the upper Huntums Ghut area that sent a man to the hospital, police said.

Shortly after midnight on Tuesday morning, police responded to a report of shots fired in the area, where they found a lone man with gunshot wounds on the road, according to a press release from the Police Information Office.

He was taken to Peebles Hospital, where he was in stable condition as of Tuesday, the release said.

“One man’s been injured, but it’s not life-threatening as far as we understand, and the investigation is ongoing,” Deputy Police Commissioner David Morris said Tuesday.

Police ask anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Special Investigations Unit at 468-2718, the Police Intelligence Unit at 468-9339 or the anonymous, Miami-based Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-8477.
