While executing a search warrant last week, police seized 57 pounds of marijuana from a Greenland home, police said.

During the early morning search on Dec. 11, members of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force found a black garbage bag hidden on the outside of an apartment building. The bag contained three large blocks of what is suspected to be marijuana, weighing 57 pounds in total, according to a police press release.

A 40-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of possessing the marijuana with the intent to supply, but “he has since been released from custody” without being charged, the press release stated.

Police Information Officer Diane Drayton said Tuesday that no one had been charged but police continue to investigate.
