Artificial poppies are for sale in support of the service personnel who will be honoured during the Remembrance Day Service next month.

All uniformed organisations and current and former service personnel are invited to participate in the ceremony, which will be held at 3 p.m. Nov. 11 at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College, according to Government Information Services.

Governor Boyd McCleary, Premier Dr. Orlando Smith and other public officers will also attend.

Former service personnel are invited to register with the Deputy Governor’s Office by providing information on their time of service, branch of service, country served and any special medals by Nov. 5.

Members of the public are also invited to the event, and are encouraged to purchase poppies and wear them on that day.

Poppy and Remembrance Sunday was started by service personnel to make sure later generations never forgot the suffering caused by World War I, according to GIS.
