Better information and better communication will benefit parents, students and the territory as a whole, education officials said during the launch of the PowerSchool programme Monday at Sir Rupert Briercliffe Hall.

PowerSchool has been a “buzzword” around the territory for the last two years, said Lorna Stevens, assistant secretary in the Ministry of Education, but now it’s ready to be used by parents.

Starting this week, parents of public secondary school students can log in and view information about their children from anywhere they have Internet access, officials explained. The “single sign-on” system means that parents will be able to create one username and password and then see information about grades and attendance, as well as teacher comments, for each of their children, Ms. Stevens said.

“So you won’t have to have a separate sign-on for each child,” she said.
