“Look what God has put in my tummy: food so yummy. I know I am blessed,” students at the Enid Scatliffe Pre-primary School sang on Friday during a ceremony where new educational and recreational facilities were unveiled.

Around the school compound, there were new paintings of balloons, cartoon characters and math problems on the walls. On the ground were new hopscotch courts.

The facilities will help ensure that learning won’t stop in the classroom for the students, said Judith Vanterpool, who chaired the ceremony.

“This you see here today is an actually an assignment that [Principal Valerie Charles-Welch] has taken,” Ms. Vanterpool said. “It is from the National College of Educational Leadership in Jamaica.”

Ms. Charles-Welch and public primary school principals began a training session with the Jamaican-based training institution in September.
