There may be plenty of employees in the territory who provide excellent customer service, but there are still “too many who give less than their best,” Premier Dr. Orlando Smith wrote on his Facebook page Sunday afternoon.

The premier was hosting his third online forum, and he had invited participants to join and ask questions.

According to Dr. Smith, some employees “are surly and discourteous to those who, in essence, ensure that they have a job.” He asked residents throughout the territory, not just those in “tourism-oriented businesses,” to remember the importance of customer service, and to give “the kind of service that will give your business a good reputation and keep your customers coming back.”

Dr. Smith also said that while the items under the $50 million capital projects budget won’t be completed this year, he expects to “make significant progress” on the National Sewerage Project and other major projects.

When he asked others joining the chat to share their thoughts, about a dozen people responded with concerns, including multiple questions about proposed changes to the territory’s education and health care systems.
