From a boat show in the Mediterranean to conferences in Europe and Greenland, Premier Dr. Orlando Smith is spending the end of September on the road in an effort to revitalise the Virgin Islands economy and enhance international relations, according to a statement on the Ministry of Finance website.

Dr. Smith visited the Monaco Yacht Show for four days through Saturday. According to the statement, 28,000 members of the “luxury yacht industry” attend the show each year. The MYS dubs itself the “most prestigious pleasure boat show in the world.”

Then on Sunday, Dr. Smith went to Copenhagen for a meeting of the Caribbean Overseas Countries and Territories Council. The council, formed in April, plans to create a unified Caribbean agenda regarding the European Union’s next Overseas Countries and Territories Agreement and other “issues of mutual interest and concern,” according to the statement.
