During a search of James John’s home in New Bush last month, police discovered and seized 114 kilograms of cocaine, according to prosecutors.

Mr. John, 68, was one of five men arrested on Aug. 10 and charged in connection with the drugs and nearly $690,000 in cash that was found between them. On Tuesday, he appeared in Magistrates’ Court along with the others: Hugh Erickson, 42, of West End; Leon King, 31, of Cane Garden Bay; Gerry Freeman, 48, of St. Thomas; and Jomo Jack, a 28-year-old native of St. Vincent.

“These arrests were made surrounding a police investigation into drug trafficking and money laundering,” said Senior Crown Counsel Valston Graham during a previous court appearance.

Having pleaded not guilty to the charges, the men are to stand trial in Magistrates’ Court on Oct. 23.

Anthea Smith represents Messrs. Erickson and Freeman, Stephen Daniels appears for Messrs. John and Jack, and Ruthilia Maximea represents Mr. King.
