The Ministry of Education and Culture is seeking feedback on two ongoing initiatives: a proposal to require an additional year of secondary education; and plans for the BVI Technical and Vocational School.

Currently, both projects are in the consultancy phase, and meetings with teachers and other stakeholders are under way, according to Government Information Services.

Two public meetings are planned as well: at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Sir Rupert Briercliffe Hall; and at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Catholic Community Centre on Virgin Gorda.

The Tortola meeting will air live on ZBVI, and listeners will be given the opportunity to call in and voice opinions, according to GIS.

The first phase of the consultancy began last month, when Education Officer Connie George and Germaine Scatliffe met with secondary school principals in public and private high schools. The revamped technical school is scheduled to open in September.
