Many public officers started their Tuesday morning with a treasure hunt at the Central Administration Building.

The activity was part of the Employee Assistance Programme’s ongoing awareness week, which is themed “Be Uplifted and Stress-free, Utilise EAP.”

“It’s for the entire public service,” said EAP Coordinator and CounsellorNoreen Callwood-Lewis. “So for the week of activities, our aim is to build awareness about the Employee Assistance Programme, since persons generally, especially in the Caribbean, have certain taboos as it relates to counselling.”

The EAP, which was established in 2003, provides public officers with counselling and other support in handling problems that may impact their work performance.

Ms. Callwood-Lewis said activities are to continue throughout the week.

“We are going to have some educational outreach where we’ll be going to the various departments and sharing the word and doing a lot of one-on-ones,” she said. “We’re hoping at the end of the week persons that did not know about the EAP will become knowledgeable about it as well as know how to connect with us.”

On Thursday an EAP team is to deliver presentations at different agencies, and on Friday an appreciation day will culminate with a fashion show at 4:30 p.m. at UMI Fashions in Road Town.
