The hundreds of visitors at Atlantis resort’s “grand ballroom” on Monday and Tuesday got a chance to see the Virgin Islands without leaving the Bahamas. Representatives of Biras Creek, Scrub Island, Peter Island and the BVI Tourist Board staffed four booths at the Bahamian resort’s conference centre, hoping to drum up more visitors for the VI.

Their presence at the 30th annual Caribbean Travel Marketplace, an industry trade show that is hosted by a different island each year, allows participants to meet industry and media representatives and make valuable connections, according to BVITB Director Hadassah Ward.

Ms. Ward and Lynette Harrigan, a marketing manager with the board, hosted back-to-back appointments on both days with buyers and sellers who want to do business with the VI.

“Great leads, great partnerships. There’s significant interest that they’re having ,” Ms. Ward said of visitors to her booth, adding that the variety of participants helps make the show a productive place to do business.

“We were able to cover the gamut of properties as far as every niche is concerned, and it’s very seldom that you’re able to do that in two days,” she added.
